SOUTHEND United youngster Jacob Bland has joined Concord Rangers.

Blues are keen to keep hold of the talented midfielder but are currently unable to offer him a new deal due to the club's transfer embargo.

Bland has now headed out to Concord to play first team football and made his debut in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Carshalton Athletic.

Beach Boys boss Sammy Collins told the club's YouTube channel: "Jacob I played with for a little bit at Wakering last year.

"He's with Southend and they've been very helpful in getting him in for today.

"Today wasn't really his game because he's a technical ball player but he did fantastic in there running around.

"It was a hot, hot day and I sweating on the sidelines so I can't imagine what it was playing but Jacob did very well."

Bland has yet to make his senior first team debut for the Shrimpers but has trained with the first team squad all season and has also travelled to the majority of away games with the the squad.

It is expected Blues will offer the midfielder a new deal when and if their transfer restrictions are lifted.

Until then, Bland will be trying to help Concord bounce back from their poor start to the Isthmian Premier Division season.

The Beach Boys are currently bottom of the table and have yet to pick up a point, losing all six of their six league matches so far.

Concord are without a game this weekend but return to action at Dulwich Hamlet the following Saturday.
