SOUTHEND United have added Mauro Vilhete and David Martin to their depleted squad.

The Shrimpers are restricted to having 16 registered players due to their transfer embargo which has been in place for the past 12 months.

But, due to injuries and suspensions, Blues were given permission to make new signings in order for tonight's match with Maidenhead United to go ahead at Roots Hall.

Experienced former West Ham United goalkeeper Martin -who has been training with the club for the past weeks - has been added on a non-contract basis along with Vilhete.

The 30-year-old - who previously played for Barnet - can play in defence and midfield.
