ECHOSPORT talks to AFC Fylde fan Jack Connor ahead of Saturday's match with Southend United at Roots Hall.

AFC Fylde are currently bottom of the table. What have you made of things so far?

"The season has been one of real frustration so far.

"Based on performances on the whole we should be sitting on five or six wins.

"We're controlling games but switching off momentarily and getting punished."

How big has the step up been from National League North?

"It's been a step up on the whole but we are used to it after having experience of this division before.

"The only real difference is teams punish those marginal mistakes more."

What are your hopes for this season?

"My hope for the season before we started was the play-offs.

"Now it would just be to pull clear of the bottom four and consolidate mid-table which we're more than capable of ."

Who is the dangerman?

"The obvious danger man given his output over the last two to three years is Nick Haughton.

"When he's on form hes arguably the best player in non league, a phenomenal talent but hes not the only one we have.

"I'd say Jonathan Ustabasi, Josh Kay and Connor Barrett if they play will also be ones to watch."

What's the team news?

"Chris Neal is injured, Harry Davis is recovering from a concussion and Alex Whitmore is serving a suspension.

"I wouldnt expect Joe Rowley or Pierce Bird to be named in the squad either.
