SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 2-1 defeat to AFC Fylde at Roots Hall.

Players looked leggy, and our lack of depth meant we struggled against a physical side. Once again, we have a chairman to thank for this.

@SenseiPhil2

They're exhausted and weren't helped by an inept ref. At what point do the league have a duty of care to players and their physical and mental well being in the position we are in? They're doing their very best out there, their hearts are trying but their bodies are broken.

@Kaylalula

March was inspiring, match pretty depressing. With so many players out of position it needed established ones to have big games and sadly quite a few were poor. No qualms about the result, but having pulled back to 1-1 to lose was grim. Players look shattered, fear for Tuesday.

@Moorhouse79

I was there today and it was all a bit sad to see. Players never got out of the traps. Not their fault, they looked exhausted. The only real bit of entertainment was seeing Powell standing next to their enormous CH.

@TrenamanMartin

Never got going today. Players avoiding tackles, didn't get to the second ball on many occasions. Ball over the top seemed the only way through but not exploited enough. Poor delivery from set pieces. Cool finish from Cardwell the only highlight.

@kevcat30

What ever reason you want to attach for the defeat we just weren't good enough today, well off our own standard's. Flyde seem to target Miley in behind which to be fair was the correct tactic. Rest needed and now onto tuesday.

@SearchTerry

Third game in a week, and it showed. Definitely a team carrying and playing through injuries. No fault of anyone except the whole Martin Family. None of you will escape the blame for this.

@bazziboo

Too many long balls up to Cardwell , couldn’t get the better of their centre halves, we ran out of steam at the end, poor game spoilt further by an ‘it’s all about me ref’.

@simoncooper99

Tired, tired, tired, tired. The embargo and all that that entails means that performances like Tuesday night are unsustainable. Someone is going to get a career threatening injury soon. And it’s all on Martin.

@299Peter

Players looked drained from the get go today. Also with the lack of squad depth some players look reluctant to get into challenges in the fear of picking up injury or a card. Some of the play was sloppy at times. But proud of every single one of them

@KetchleyShane

We were beaten by the better side today. 1st half they could have been 3 up. Good fight back 2nd half though & could have nicked it but for a breakaway goal spoiling any genuine hope. Small squad is killing us, with too many players playing out of position & clearly exhausted!

@tommyharris57

Poor performance, but hard to blame the players. They looked so tired. Our lack of any squad depth is really starting to show.

@JevHarper

We were exhausted, the first goal at 2 mins in rattled us, the ref was shockingly bad one of the worse refs we’ve had

@lydylyd

Fylde did their homework, but we didn’t deserve to lose. Bridge was quiet as they doubled him, their CB was bigger and stronger than Cardwell who won every header on Tuesday.
