BASILDON United suffered FA Trophy disappointment at home to Lowestoft Town.

Basildon were beaten 4-0 at the Hive in the second qualifying round of the competition.

But boss Darren Manning was keen to remain level headed at the final whistle.

"It’s not great but it’s something that I know will happen every now and then," Manning told Bees TV.

"The demographic and profile of player we have and can attract means those kind of days will happen.

"It just means we have to re-focus and go again."

Lowestoft raced into a 3-0 lead inside 39 minutes before Basildon suffered a further blow in the 56th minute when Sid Walker was sent off.

The visitors added a fourth late on and Manning was disappointed with some of his players.

"Some of the boys let themselves down in there with their application and they know that," said Manning.

"That’s the thing I’m most disappointed about.

"We’ve still got a fantastic group of players here though.

"We need to realise that it's happened but not dwell on it and we’ll go again."
