ROCHDALE boss Jimmy McNulty thought his side should have made more of their first half pressure against Southend United on Saturday.

The Shrimpers fought back from two goals down to secure a 2-2 draw at Spotland.

But McNulty felt Rochdale should have had the game wrapped up before the break.

"I think we should have the game won by half-time,” McNulty told the club's website.

“We were very good first-half, but guilty, in my opinion, of some complacency.

“I just watched it back briefly and it could be 4-0 at half-time. I think if we are, there’s not a game anymore.

“Not being 4-0 at half-time, we allow the element of doubt in through conceding a goal."

And McNulty was frustrated to take just a point from the game.

"Southend changed shape to try to stop us at 2-2, which is credit to them," said McNulty.

"They showed good character to come back and they’re happy with their point today.

“We’re unhappy with the point, which is probably a decent sign with where we are.”
