JON Benton wants Aveley to finish what they started when they head to Barnet for an FA Cup replay tonight.

Benton bagged a last gasp leveller for the nine man Millers against the Bees at Parkside on Saturday.

And the attacking midfielder is now looking forward to taking on the National League side for the second time in quick succession.

“The replay will be a tough game away from home,” said Benton.

“They had majority of the ball first time round but we will do exactly the same as before.

“We will work hard as a team to create chances and nullify them.

“It will be a great opportunity to get a result and progress to the first round.”

Barnet, who sit second in their league table, raced into a two goal in the fourth qualifying round clash.

Harry Pritchard fired the Bees in front after just four minutes before making it 2-0 with 19 minutes on the clock.

Aveley got a goal back just before half-time with Matt Rush on target, But the hosts’ hopes of a comeback were hit by two red cards in quick succession.

Charlee Hughes was sent off in the 77th minute before Garrett Kelly was also dismissed five minutes from time.

However, the Millers were still able to draw back level in stoppage time with Benton firing home for the seventh time this season.

And the comeback again showed the spirit in the Aveley side.

“This isn’t the first time we’ve come back,” said Benton.

“It was only last week we played Hornchurch when we managed to equalise late on and get the winner in extra time.

“The team refuses to give up and everyone works for each other.”

That character has also seen Aveley up to sixth in National League South having previously won promotion in their last two seasons.

And they had to be at their best to avoid defeat against the Bees.

“Saturday’s game we knew was going to be tough,” said Benton.

“We treated it like every other game but we knew we just had to stay in the game and that we would find a way to do it.”

Benton again took centre stage and is pleased with how his season is shaping up.

“I’m on seven goals so far and I’m very pleased,” said Benton.

“I’ve been able to contribute the same with assists and it’s been a good team to play in.

“No one is selfish and everyone wants everyone else to succeed and it shows with the amount of goals we score.”

Aveley face Barnet in their replay on Tuesday night.
