SOUTHEND United defender Harry Taylor is enjoying his part in a memorable start to the season for his family.

Taylor has been an ever present at the back for Blues while his brother Jack has helped Ipswich Town reach second place in the Championship table.

And Taylor is keen to keep it going.

“He’s (Jack) doing really well with Ipswich and they’re flying in the Champ so it’s been a good season so far,” said Taylor.

“I’ve played every game here and loving it at centre-back as well so hopefully mum and dad are proud and we can carry it on.”

Taylor lined up in midfield for the Shrimpers last season before dropping back into defence this time around.

And he now wants to help Kevin Maher’s side bounce back from Saturday’s FA Cup defeat at Yeovil Town.

“It wasn’t the best of performances from us but we’ve got to move on and focus on the league now,” said Taylor.

“We knew we weren’t ourselves at Yeovil but we’ve got to keep that momentum we’ve got in the league going.

“We’ve got to keep pushing forward and keep pushing for points.”

However, that is likely to be tough going against a Solihull side who are third in the table.

“They’ve got a big lad up top and some tens who like running so it will be a tough game,” said Taylor.

“But we’re all ready for it and will try to get the home fans behind us to get the win.

“The Southend fans are always very loud.

“We know they will get behind us and we’ll try and get it bouncing again.”
