SOUTHEND United defender Jason Demetriou will be out for ‘a few weeks’ with a hamstring injury.

Demetriou picked up the problem during Blues’ 5-0 win against Solihull Moors last month.

And Blues boss Kevin Maher will now be without the 35-year-old for a period of time.

“The scan has shown JD has got a tear in his hamstring which we kind of knew already,” said Maher.

“He will be seeing a specialist and then we’ll take it from there but it will be a few weeks.”

Demetriou has made 15 appearances for Blues this season and started nine games in succession before suffering the injury.
