SOUTHEND United boss Kevin Maher was full of praise for goalkeeper David Martin following the Shrimpers’ 1-1 draw at Gateshead on Saturday.
The experienced shot-stopper produced an impressive performance between the sticks.
But Maher was not at all surprised to see the 37-year-old in such fine form.
“He's a top keeper and he's played at a level that tells you that,” said Maher.
“He's played for good teams at a good level.
“Not only is he brilliant around the place he's still a very, very good goalkeeper and he showed that today.”
Martin’s performance also saw him voted man of the match in the Echo’s online poll, picking up 71 per cent of the votes.
