FORMER Southend United striker Barry Corr has been named caretaker manager of Cambridge United.
Corr will work alongside ex Shrimpers winger Kevin Betsy following the dismissal of former Blues academy coach Mark Bonner as manager.
A club statement confirmed: “Given our recent performances and results, we all feel - Owners and Board - that this is the right moment to part company with Mark, with huge respect, admiration and acknowledgement for all we have achieved together.
“We will now consider the right appointment for the Club at this stage of our development.
"In the meantime, Barry Corr, working with Kevin Betsy will have responsibility for the first team squad.”
Corr scored 63 goals in 185 appearances for Blues between 2010 and 2015.
The 38-year-old has been coaching at Cambridge since 2019.
