WHITE Ensign striker Mechack Asuka is targeting more FA Vase glory this weekend.

Ensign head to Walsham-le-Willows for a third round clash tomorrow.

And Asuka feels the tie is hugely significant for Ensign’s campaign.

“This season the Vase has been massive for us,” said Asuka.

“I’m proud of how the squad has come this far and we are hoping to continue and make it all the way.

“I can’t wait for the weekend either.

“It is massive for us boys as we have come this far.

“I’m hoping we can continue this cup run as we have worked hard to get where we are now.”

But Asuka is expecting a tough test against Willows who sit 13th in the Premier Division of the Thurlow Nunn League.

“We’re not expecting it to be an easy game as the opponent has come this far in the Vase so I think we know it won’t be easy,” said Asuka.

“Every game is not an easy game but I believe in us boys to go out there and play to our best to hopefully get the win.”

Ensign have triumphed six times in 19 league games this season and sit 13th in the Essex Senior League standings.

But Asuka feels Ensign are getting back to their best.

“So far this season the league hasn’t been the best start we would’ve wanted but slowly as a team we are working hard and hoping we can bounce back to our best,” said Asuka.

“At this moment in time we are focused on the FA Vase as it’s incredible how far we have come.”

However, Asuka is keen to improve on the league position too.

“As you can see from the table we are not where we want to be,” said Asuka.

“But I believe if we continue how we have been playing in recent games we will make the play-offs and hopefully bring us up a league.

“It would be a really good achievement for us boys and the club.”

And Asuka is keen to help make that happen.

“I’m pleased with how I’ve done this season with Ensign,” said Asuka.

“Of course I feel like I could do more as a player but it’s just the start.

“I have got a long way to go and improve as a player to reach my full potential.

“I have got myself couple of goals this season following my recent goal in the 1-0 victory against West Essex and I will be hoping to continue my goalscoring form on Saturday.”
