SOUTHEND United have been fined by the Football Association after admitting to surrounding a match official.

The Shrimpers were charged for a breach of an FA rule when protesting against the red card Gus Scott-Morriss received at York City back in September.

And a Regulatory Commission has now fined the club £2,850.

Blues had two players sent off by referee Paul Cooper during the 3-0 defeat against the Minstermen with Harry Taylor being dismissed prior to Scott-Morriss’ red card for foul and abusive language which the Shrimpers claimed was mistaken identity.

However, Blues saw their appeals on both of the red cards rejected and have now received further punishment for their behaviour.
