BROMLEY boss Andy Woodman felt his side were rewarded for their pre-match preparations at Southend United.

Bromley bagged a 2-1 victory at Roots Hall.

And Woodman thought both goals came from work the Ravens had done in the build up to the game.

“The discipline of the team is really good and both goals were both ones we had looked at, worked at and executed so I'm chuffed,” Woodman told the club’s YouTube channel.

“I thought we were really good at what we did.

“We let them have the ball in areas they weren't hurting us and we were disciplined in our performance.

“We got the ball in wide areas, we got crosses in the box and the goal came from a move we'd worked at with what we'd seen in their team so I was delighted with that.

“The game plan worked in that respect.”

And Woodman was pleased to see second-placed Bromley stay on top after the break.

“In the second half I thought we started much brighter,” said Woodman.

“We looked good and got the second goal but the keeper went off and it kind of gave this place a lift.

“We sat back a bit too deep, they got the goal and then you're in that world of pain of hanging on when they're chucking balls in the box.”

Michael Cheek bagged Bromley’s second goal after Blues defender Ollie Kensdale had lost the ball to Olufela Olomola on the edge of his own penalty area.

But Woodman insisted the Ravens had worked at setting up the situation.

“My players and staff should take some credit for that,” said Woodman.

“You say it's a mistake but we know what we're doing.

“We set that up a little bit and they're called traps.

“We set up the trap and it worked.

“It was something we worked on in the week so I'm really happy with that.”

But Bromley were still forced to dig deep for all three points after Brooklyn Kabongolo got a goal back for the Shrimpers 10 minutes from time.

“It was heart in the mouth at times but it's going to be,” said Woodman.

“There's 7,000 or 8,000 fans here, it's packed and bouncing.

“We're going to have moments like that away at Southend.

“But we need to put this into perspective, Bromley Football Club to come to Southend and doing the double.

“Forget about these problems I keep hearing about they're a good team.

“They've got resources we haven’t got.

“I know people might find that mad but they've got good players.

“They've got problems but we've taken care of our business.”
