HASHTAG United fought back to secure a 3-3 draw with Enfield Town at the Len Salmon Stadium on Saturday.

The Tags trailed 3-1 before scoring twice in succession to pick up a point.

And boss Jay Devereux was delighted with the spirit on show as his side ended a run of five successive defeats.

“We have to be happy with that in the end,” said Devereux.

“After going 3-1 down and going through the difficult period we're going through you fear the worst .

“But you can never fault the character of our boys and we keep going.

“In the end we more than deserved a point too.

“Enfield will probably feel they should be winning the game going 3-1 up and I'd be feeling that too.

“But overall on the balance of play it was a deserved point and if I'm honest I'd have taken a point before the game too.”

Marcus Wyllie put the fourth placed visitors in front on the half hour mark before Camilo Restrepo equalised five minutes later after a fine run into the box.

Lewis Taafe put Enfield back in front with a brilliant free-kick in the 56th minute before Obi Onyeagwara blasted home to make it 3-1.

However, a well-taken header from Alex Teniola got Hashtag back in the game before Sakariya Hassan netted from close range nine minutes from time to ensure the game ended all square.

But Devereux will remain level-headed whatever happens during the rest of the season.

“There's been a lot of over-reaction because we've lost five games in a row and it's the first time it's ever happened to us but it was always going to happen to us,” said Devereux.

“Every time we take a step up it gets tougher and tougher.

“These runs are going to happen but if we're going to enjoy the 21 straight wins we had last season we've got to prepared to take it on the chin when it gets tough.”

Hashtag remain 10th in the Isthmian Premier Division.

In Isthmian North on Saturday, Bowers & Pitsea drew 2-2 at Heybridge Swifts and remain third in the table, thanks to goals from Matt Price and Luke Reeve.

In the Essex Senior League, Hullbridge Sports won 2-1 at Athletic Newham.
