SOUTHEND United defender Harry Taylor was forced off with a hamstring injury against Gateshead.
The centre-back was replaced by Adam Crowther at half-time of the 1-0 defeat at Roots Hall.
But Blues boss Kevin Maher is unsure just how serious Taylor’s setback will prove to be.
“He felt his hamstring,” said Maher.
“I think when the ball was played over the top and as he hooked it over it’s tightened up.
“He had to come off at half-time but hopefully it’s not too bad.
“We’ll have to wait and see.”
Taylor’s injury enabled Crowther to make his home debut for the Shrimpers.
And Maher was pleased with how the defender performed.
“He did well,” said the Blues boss.
“The period he’s had with us the training has been intense and probably more intense than he’s had before.
“He’s getting up to speed and you can see that when he comes on.”
But Blues were again without midfielder Oli Coker at the weekend due to a thigh problem.
“He felt tight again with his quad,” said Maher.
“He’s gone off for a scan and we’re waiting on the results.”
