OXFORD City manager Ross Jenkins thought his side had the better chances in Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Southend United.

City ended a run of three straight defeats by securing a share of the spoils against the Shrimpers.

And, despite feeling a draw was a fair result, Jenkins also felt Oxford could have taken more than a point.

“It was an even game and both teams had chances but I thought we had the better chances,” Jenkins told the club’s YouTube channel.

“(Josh) Ashby’s rifled one off the crossbar, Jacob (Roddy) has had one at the back post he could’ve maybe got on target but the two key ones are the chances Aaron (William-Bushell) had first and second half.

“The goalie has made some great saves so give him credit but it was a real battle today because Southend like to put the ball in the box.”

And Jenkins was pleased with how City defended, seven days on from losing 7-1 at Dagenham & Redbridge.

“We knew they had some big boys ready to start or come on in Cardwell and Dackers,” said Jenkins.

“We had to weather it but we also played some really good stuff.

“Overall it’s a really good performance in terms of last week to now and the main thing was the clean sheet.

“We could’ve won the game but overall looking back a point might be fair.”
