POPULAR former Southend United striker Barry Corr has been placed in charge of Cambridge United following the departure of boss Neil Harris.

Harris, another ex-Blues forward, has returned to take charge of Millwall for a second time.

And Corr has been named as Cambridge's caretaker boss, alongside former Shrimpers winger Kevin Betsy.

A statement from the club confirmed: "Neil Harris has today left his role as Head Coach of Cambridge United to join Championship side Millwall, following an official approach this morning and contractual compensation being paid.

"Assistant Head Coach Barry Corr, supported by Kevin Betsy, will take charge of the team ahead of Saturday’s game against Peterborough United."

Corr made 185 appearances for Blues between 2010 and 2015.
