ECHOSPORT talks to Boreham Wood fan Tom McConnon ahead of Monday's match with Southend United.

Boreham Wood are currently 21st in the table. What have you made of the season so far?

"It’s been tough.

"It’s been an unusual season for us all over.

"Injuries hurt us early on in the season and then I feel like we just haven’t found that spell of form."

We've been used to Boreham Wood being in and around the play-offs in recent seasons. Why has that not been the case this season?

"We’re usually so defensively tough and this year that just hasn’t been the case.

"We’re not a side that will beat a team by four goals but we will usually keep a clean sheet and take the three points with a 1-0 or 2-0 win.

"It hasn't been like that this year though."

Are you confident of staying up?

"I am, as a fan I think you have to be.

"I know Luke (Garrard) and the boys will put the work in and get us across the line."

Who has been the stand out performer this season and who is the dangerman?

"A standout player for me has to be Erico Sousa.

"He has great feet and can score from pretty much from anywhere on the pitch and has multiple times.

"But the danger man has to be Kabby Tshimanga, I think everyone knows what he is capable of.

What's the team news?

"As far as I’m aware I don’t think we have anyone who’s out for injury but we do have Chris Bush out on suspension.

"He’s a massive loss for us and we definitely need to have him back on the pitch as soon as possible."
