GREAT Wakering Rovers boss Marcus Bowers feels it is still all to play for in his side's FA Vase semi-final with Worcester City.

Rovers were beaten 1-0 away from home in Saturday's first leg.

But Bowers took heart from the clash and the chances Wakering created.

"I'm pleased but slightly disappointed," said Bowers.

"I thought we had the chances but it sets it up for a really good tie next week now.

"We can go into it with confidence too.

"I thought we made enough chances to win the game if I'm honest and it gives us belief that next week we can score goals against them to get through."

Wakering fought hard against Worcester at the weekend but it was the hosts who scored the only goal of the game in the77th minute with Elliot Hartley on target.

And Bowers was not too sure how to initially respond given the two legged nature of the tie.

"It's strange because when we went 1-0 down I didn't know how to react," said Bowers.

"Do we chuck on a forward to get a goal or do we just take it?

"It was more about staying in the tie and having something to go on next week which we've definitely done."

Saturday's match had originally been due to take place seven days previously but was postponed to a waterlogged pitch.

The match was eventually moved to the Sixways Stadium which is normally used for rugby union but the change did not halt Worcester's momentum.

City are currently six points clear of second placed Corsham Town at the top of the UHL Premier Division with four games in hand .

Worcester have now also won 23 games in succession but did not have things all their own way against Wakering.

Callum Boylan and Hafeez Elegushi both went close for Wakering who will head into the second leg at the end of a hectic week.

"We've got Hullbridge Tuesday and Buckhurst Hill Thursday so it's a busy few days," said Bowers.

"But we'll be doing all we can to win all three games."

Should Wakering see off Worcester City then it will be an all Essex Senior League final at Wembley after Romford beat Lincoln United 10-9 on penalties in the other semi-final.
