WEALDSTONE have sacked manager David Noble ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with Southend United.

Stones sit just above the National League drop zone on goal difference.

And the strugglers have now opted to relieve Noble of his duties after just more than two months in charge.

A club statement said: “Wealdstone Football Club can confirm that the contract of first team manager, David Noble, has been terminated with immediate effect. Assistant Manager Neil Banfield has also left the club.

“This reluctant decision is not one the board of directors has taken lightly.

“It regrettably comes after deep and thorough consideration and is made in what we believe to be the best interests of Wealdstone Football Club, particularly in our ongoing attempt to retain our National League status.”

First team coach Sam Cox has been named as interim manager and will be supported by a group of senior players starting with Tuesday night’s clash at home to the Shrimpers.

Wealdstone were beaten 4-0 by relegation rivals Boreham Wood on Saturday but do still have at least two games in hand on the four teams below them in the table.
