GREAT Wakering Rovers goalkeeper Luis Shamshoum is readying himself for the “experience of a lifetime” at Wembley this weekend.

Shamshoum’s heroics have helped Wakering through to Saturday’s FA Vase final against fellow Essex Senior League Romford.

And Shamshoum cannot wait to line up at one of the most famous stadiums in the world.

“Saturday will be the experience of a lifetime,” said Shamshoum.

“It will top everything and it’s going to be amazing.

“I have so many family members and friends coming to watch that I think they pretty much have their own row but it’s going to be incredible.

“I just can’t wait.”

Shamshoum has played a prominent part in sending Wakering to Wembley after taking centre-stage in the penalty shoot-out success against Worcester City.

Shamshoum’s save from Chris Knight saw Marcus Bowers’ side through to the final.

And it is a moment Shamshoum admits he will never forget.

“It was crazy,” said Shamshoum.

“I remember checking the ref because I didn’t want to celebrate too quickly but when he blew the full-time whistle I dropped to my knees in tears of joy.

“Next thing I know I’m at the bottom of a massive bundle.

“It was OK when it was three or four lads but more and more kept going on and in the end my dad grabbed my arm and I was shouting for him to get me out.

“It was just amazing and I was in tears for a while.

“Fingers crossed Saturday will just as good.”

And the Thundersley based Shamshoum feels facing Romford makes the final even more memorable.

“An all Essex Senior League final makes it even more special.” said Shamshoum.

“It’s a great competition with I think nearly 600 teams in.

“To have the final two from our league is crazy.

“It’s going to be a special day and fingers crossed it’s us going up the steps to get the trophy.”
