CONCERNED Southend United supporters are set to protest outside the Civic Centre tonight.

Blues fans are becoming increasingly frustrated by the time the council are taking to complete the due diligence needed for the consortium to officially take charge of the charge.

And supporters will now be making their feelings know this evening ahead of the council's EGM.

A statement from the Southend Fan Protest group confirmed: "During this morning’s BBC interview with members of the consortium, they unsurprisingly raised the potential for the deal to collapse owing to everyone running out of patience.

"We will therefore be attending the council offices tonight.

"Our demands will be clear: - what timeline was agreed with the law firm conducting DD?

"What are the financial consequences of missing the timeline for the law firm?

"If no timeline was agreed, what is the cost to the council per day and incentive for the DD firm to conclude?

"We believe these demands do not prejudice the DD outcome and are of interest to Southend fans, local tax paying residents and the consortium alike.

"We make it absolutely clear that this is a peaceful protest only asking these questions and therefore there is to be no abuse, intimidation or demands placed on councillors which compromise their confidentiality or the DD process."

The consortium exchanged contracts with Blues chairman Ron Martin to buy the club back in December but have yet to officially take control.

The Shrimpers were back in the High Court on Wednesday due to a winding up petition issued by Stewarts Law which was adjourned for six weeks.

However, the winding up petition means Blues are back in a transfer embargo.

Tonight's protest starts at 5.30pm.
