BILLERICAY Town will be looking to build on their opening day win when they head to Chatham Town tonight.

Billericay kicked off their Isthmian Premier Division campaign with a 3-0 win against Whitehawk on Saturday.

But defender Tommy Davis knows it will be far from straightforward this evening.

“Chatham away will be one of our toughest games of the season in my opinion,” said Davis.

“They weren’t in the play-off final last season for no reason and we know that they will be a force this season.

“But we are ready for it and will go there with only a win on our minds to back Saturday up.”

Ashley Nzala, Ansu Janneh and De-Carrey Sheriff were all on target for Town at the weekend.

And Davis was delighted to pick up all three points.

“The first game of the season is always one that everyone wants to win after hard graft in pre-season to get up and running as early as possible,” said the former Southend United centre-back.

“It was pleasing to get the three points and even sweeter that it was topped off by a good performance. “

But Davis is keen for that to become the norm this term.

“The only thought on my mind this season is for us to get promotion this year,” said Davis.

“The squad that we have this year is full of competition which is healthy and will only benefit us.

“After a good pre-season everyone is settled and we are all on the same page that if we are to be promoted this year it will be as a collective.

“The gaffer has put together a squad that know that and will always put the team first.”

Elsewhere tonight, Canvey Island host Hashtag United.

Canvey were beaten 2-1 at Chichester City on Saturday.
