SOUTHEND United defender Harry Taylor will be looking to be a cut above the rest when he heads back to Barnet tomorrow.
The Shrimpers centre-back has been in fine form again this season.
But he is still having to play wearing protective headwear after suffering a nasty cut during Blues’ friendly at Great Wakering Rovers at the start of the July.
“I’ll probably have to wear it a couple more times,” said Taylor.
“It’s still a little bit sore but it’s alright and I just have to thank Woody (Jack Wood) for that, kneeing me in the head!
“I didn’t know at the time but he told me after it was him.”
And the injury disrupted Taylor’s pre-season campaign.
“It was glued together and I think I was off for about a week and half, two weeks in the end,” said Taylor.
“I couldn’t let it sweat or get wet so I had to keep it patched up and a head thing even in the shower but it’s all good now.”
Taylor has recovered to help the Shrimpers secure two clean sheets in their first three games of the season and their first win of the campaign against Boston United on Tuesday night.
But Taylor know it will be difficult to build on that victory when the take on the Bees tomorrow.
“They’re a tough side to go to, they’ve got loads of quality and they will be there or there abouts this season,” said Taylor, who made 184 appearances for Barnet.
“They’ve been up there for the last two or three seasons so it will be a good game and hopefully we’ll get the win.
“We’ll give it everything and hopefully the fans will get behind us there too.”
And Taylor is also hopeful the Shrimpers can do well this season.
“We’ve got to stick in where abouts we are and hopefully we can get a few more goals,” said the defender.
“We’ve been trying to create as many chances as we can with the clean sheet record we’ve got which helps.”
