SOUTHEND United fans have their say on Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Barnet.
A stark reminder that we are a long way from the quality required to be right at the top of the league. Barnet were very comfortable winners and the lack of drive or belief from us after the penalty was palpable. Need serious upgrades in final third.

Why can’t we play on the front foot, we seem to play backwards and sideways far too much, we did this a lot last season although less than the season before. I would like to see far more positivity in our play and get forward quicker we are very pedestrian.

So pedestrian in our build up play. Too much backwards and sideways. Barnet were decent as title favourites but thankfully not the same quality as Chesterfield, Wrexham, Stockport or Notts County.
@TerryEd123
Thought we were well off the pace today and looked second best all over the pitch, credit to Barnet who had a game plan and stuck to it brilliantly. Desperately need one if not two strikers, Wood too lightweight and not the answer. Wing backs were too pinned back today.
@Justin_Dijkstra
Too static up top. Both strikers standing still on the halfway line offering nothing. Not a call for long ball football at all, but if the short ball isn’t there then we need another option. Moncur changed the game when he came on too.
@aj_mitchell29
Disappointing result but to be fair to Barnet they outplayed us all over the pitch. Need to keep possession in better areas. Can’t remember many chances for us in the game.
@AndrewHackling
Tempo too slow. Passing to slow, running too slow no one in midfield willing to pass forward through the lines. Cardwell and Waldron making plenty of runs but the passes aren't coming. Never really looked like scoring.

We’re a play off team at best. Think people need to be realistic. A club of our size shouldn’t be, but a club that's invested as little as we have into the squad compared to York, Barnet etc is not going to be beating these teams away from home. Poor result but is what it is
@LukeDeann
Thought we were very poor today didn’t deserve anything from the game. Ref didn’t help the cause as well but definitely could do with a couple more players. Onto Monday which is another big game.
@Tonyboney69
Disappointing, admittedly against a solid outfit. Our tactics and style of play are getting predictable and we need additional options up front.
@molyneux_dave
Disappointing up front. Harry Taylor is different gravy. Another great day out shame about poor results.
@kizzyq
Horrendous the writing has been on the wall for over a year. Huff, puff sideways backwards, walking football. It’s tiring watching this dross week in week out. Season on season our squad gets weaker, that’s some doing.
@southendsidthe6
Too much sideways and backwards again. Problem is if the ball goes forward it comes straight back. Taylor outstanding at the back but we look so predictable without a main striker to get the goals when we are on top. Still time to put it right Monday.
