SOUTHEND United will be without four first team players this weekend.

Centre-back Ollie Kensdale has been ruled out due to disciplinary issues which are being investigated by the club.

But he is not the only absentee.

Midfielder Oli Coker (ankle) plus strikers Danny Waldron (knee) and Josh Walker (hamstring) have also been ruled out while boss Kevin Maher will be making a late check on midfielder Cav Miley who had to be substituted against Dagenham & Redbridge on Monday.

“We’ll have to keep an eye on Cav,” said Maher.

“He stiffened up his back and his neck but he never wants to come off and he’ll look to keep going no matter what.

“We felt it was right to get him off because there were one or two stray passes, just because of the condition he was in so we’ll monitor him closely.

“We’re waiting on results on scans to tell us where they’re at but the injuries we’ve got at the minute don’t really help when we’ve got a relatively small squad.

“We know we need to add in areas and make the squad depth better.”

But Maher is unsure if new signings will be completed ahead of tomorrow’s clash.

“We want to and we’ve tried on one or two but it’s going to be tight for the weekend,” said Maher.

“You can never rule anything out and we will try and we do need to get something in but we’ve always said it’s about getting the right ones.

“That’s the most important thing.”
