SOUTHEND United new boy George Moncur is excited to see what the Shrimpers can achieve this season.
Moncur has joined Blues on loan from Leyton Orient for the entire campaign.
And the attacking midfielder has already been incredibly impressed by his new team-mates.
“Training has been really intense and I’m surprised how good the quality is here,” said Moncur.
“There is not a lot of difference between League One and the players at Southend so I’m really excited to see what the season brings.
“The group is such a good group and the staff are as well.
“I’m excited to see what we can do and I’m really enjoying myself.
“People know my character and I’m pretty much out there but all the lads have been really good.”
Moncur made two substitute appearances before playing the full 90 minutes of Monday’s 2-2 draw with Dagenham & Redbridge.
And the 31-year-old is pleased to be increasing his workload after a limited pre-season campaign with the O’s.
“In pre-season I had two 45 minutes for Orient which was probably about five weeks ago now,” said Moncur.
“To get 20 minutes, 30 and then 90 was really good.
“I feel better each game and I’m a player who needs to play to have that impact.
“It’s going well and I can only see it getting better from here.”
Blues will bid to draw on Monday’s 2-2 draw with Dagenham when they make the long to AFC Fylde tomorrow.
And Moncur is confident Kevin Maher’s side can come out on top.
“You want to play as much as you can so I’m looking forward to Saturday,” said Moncur.
“It’s another tough game but I think we’ve got enough quality to upset them.”
Moncur is also keen to help make that happen and remains eager to help Blues improve in the final third of the pitch.
“On a personal note I want to score goals and create them too,” said Moncur.
“I want to repay the faith the manager and the staff have shown in me.
“It’s been a difficult couple of years for the club.
“All the lads did so well in the circumstances at the time but it’s great that’s behind everyone now.
“Everyone knows I’m a big Christian and I think God has orchestrated it for a reason.
“Whatever the reason is I don’t know myself yet but I can see it being a great year for everyone.”
