ECHOSPORT talks to AFC Fylde fan Jack Connor ahead of Saturday's match with Southend United.

AFC Fylde are currently 18th in the table with five points from five games. What have you made of things so far?

"It's been a frustrating start.

"We had a great opening day win against Solihull and were in a great position in the games at Eastleigh and Oldham but only came out with a point at Oldham.

"The bank holiday weekend was dreadful and we never looked like scoring against two part time sides.

"It's frustrating because we know we're capable of so much better."

What do you feel the team can achieve this season?

"I think if we can perform to our best then a top half or top 10 place is realistic but we have to take it up several gears and become a lot less naive at the back."

Are you expecting an improvement on last season and has the team changed much in the summer?

"I'm expecting a marked improvement as we majorly underperformed last season.

"The team hasn't changed much with only Ben Winterbottom, Joe Riley and Corey Whelan are what you would call regular starters that are new to the club.

"The core of the side was kept on with only Connor Barrett leaving to move higher."

Who is the dangerman?

"The danger man is obviously Nick Haughton.

"When on it he's the best player in non-league and it isn't even close.

"He has more than 100 goals from attacking midfield for us and more often than not gets 30-35 goal contributions a season.

"He has superb technical ability and ball manipulation skills and can score from anywhere."

What's the team news?

"Team news wise we don't have any injuries as far as I'm aware so it should hopefully be a very entertaining game between two very attacking sides."
