BEN Search led by example to continue Great Wakering Rovers’ excellent start to the season on Saturday.

But the Rovers skipper has already switched his focus onto tonight’s clash at Little Oakley.

Search netted a last gasp penalty to secure Marcus Bowers’ side a 1-0 win against Ilford on Saturday.

And he now wants another win against tough opposition this evening.

“It’s a tough game but we must apply ourselves and keep this momentum going,” said Search.

“Little Oakley are a tough opponent that we have struggled against last year but we know if we do the right things we will continue our winning streak.”

Rovers head into the match sitting second in the standings with 10 points from their first four games.

And Search has been delighted with the season so far.

“Our start to the season has been superb, “ said the midfielder.

“We haven't maybe played our best all the time but we have grit out some great results.

“Saturday’s game was a great win and one I thought we thoroughly deserved.

“I thought we were by far the better team.

“We created lots of chances and in the end rightly came away with three points.”

Search stepped forward to ensure the victory by scoring from the spot late on.

And the midfielder took on the responsibility despite having missed his last two penalties.

“I am not the penalty taker however with both Harry Talbot and Harry Brown off the pitch someone had to take it,” said Search.

“Obviously with previous history at the start of last year there was a bit of nerves having missed a couple.

“I had to put them aside though as I know and believe I can take penalties.

“But the win Saturday was huge to keep momentum going.”
