A LAST-GASP header from Ellis Devereux secured White Ensign a 2-2 draw with Buckhurst Hill at Burroughs Park.
Ensign seemed destined for defeat in the Essex Senior League clash before Devereux scored eight minutes into stoppage time.
But the striker believes it was a game both teams will feel they could have won.
“It was a frustrating game for both sides with both teams coming away from the game thinking they could’ve taken all three points with the chances they’ve had in the game,” said Devereux.
“But considering how late we scored we have to be somewhat content with a point.”
Ensign opened the scoring with Chinedu Duru heading home after 36 minutes before the visitors rallied after the break with Ethan Daniels and Tyreece Robertson both on target in quick succession.
However, Buckhurst Hill were unable to hang onto their lead with Devereux scoring right at the death.
And he was delighted to see the ball hit the back of the net.
“The goal was really pleasing considering the break from games we have had recently,” said Devereux.
“It says a lot about the team’s character and togetherness to keep going and get a goal in practically the last kick of the game.”
Ensign are now 11th with six points from four games and face an intriguing tussle with their landlords Great Wakering Rovers this weekend.
“I’m looking forward to the derby so much,” said Deveruex.
“We know how much the game means to the club and the people around it and it’s looking like it’s going to be a great game.”
Wakering are currently top of the table and have yet to lose this season.
