WESTCLIFF moved top of the Regional Two Anglia table after a dominant derby day win at Rochford Hundred.
Westcliff turned on the style to triumph 76-7 at Magnolia Road.
And hooker Billy Morrant was delighted with the victory.
“Saturday was obviously a great day for the club, especially with how the last few games against Rochford have gone,” said Morrant.
“It’s been a positive start for us and what’s good to see is that we have started to correct the areas that gave us a few issues in the first game.
“It’s always nice to be at the top of the table but we won’t get ahead of ourselves as there is still a long way to go.”
Westcliff have taken 12 points from their first three games of the campaign.
And Morrant is determined to keep the good run of results going.
“We just want to continue to build the momentum we’ve already got,” said Morrant.
“We will keep working hard so that we can put as many performances like Saturday together as possible.”
However, Westcliff head coach Jimmy Rea was not quite so pleased after the weekend’s win.
“To be honest I was a little disappointed," said Rea.
"The rivalry we have had with Rochford has always produced hard fought games.
"I’m not sure when the last time we beat them was but I’m sure in the three years I have been at Westcliff we haven’t so to score 12 tries to their one was disappointing.
"I was a bemused by our inability to take a catch at kick off and the only one we caught cleanly we scored off one phase later.
"Our penalty count in the second half was too high and that allowed Rochford back into the game.
"If we had kept the same discipline and stuck to the game plan, there were more points to be had.
"There’s still so much for us to work on but we are still growing as a team."
But Rea did admit he was delighted for his players.
"I am really pleased for the lads," said Rea.
"They have and are still working really hard on and off the pitch.
"They are back enjoying their rugby after five hard years and two very hard years.
"But to still have the main core of players from that time is testament to their character and the club's."
Westcliff head to Stowmarket this weekend.
