SOUTHEND United midfielder Noor Husin admitted the Shrimpers ‘weren’t good enough’ in their 3-1 defeat to Gateshead at Roots Hall.
Blues ended the afternoon empty handed against Rob Elliot’s side.
And Husin did not hide his frustration at the final whistle.
“We're really disappointed with the result and the performance,” said Husin.
“At home we want to pick up points and win but it wasn't good enough.
“They're a good side but they got in too easily.
“We got ourselves back in it and from that point we should really go and take control.
“It should be our game to win but after that the second half wasn't good enough.”
And Husin felt the Shrimpers were punished for trying to rush things.
“We were patient enough and their third goal killed it off,” said the midfielder.
“We're not happy with the manner of their goals and we've got to be better. "
But Husin also knows it will take time for Blues to be at their best.
“Everyone can see there have been changes and we've had a lot of players leaving,” said Husin.
“We're a new group and we're transitioning.
“It's going to be difficult until everyone gets up to the way we play and how we do things but we've got to stick together and do better.
“We're disappointed but we've been in spells before where we haven't got results and we've turned it around.
“I'm sure we will do that again.”
