NOOR Husin is keen to cook up treats for Southend United's strikers on and off the pitch this weekend.

Husin will be a key part of the Shrimpers side aiming to secure an important three points from a crunch clash with Wealdstone tomorrow.

And Husin will head into the game having also carried out his off-field duties as a chef to house-mate Charley Kendall!

"We live together and I'm looking after him." laughed Husin.

"He claims he can't cook so I do most of the dinners and Cajun chicken is the best I would say!

"Chaz has done well since he's come in and he got a massive goal on Saturday so I'll keep cooking and hopefully he keeps on scoring."

Kendall's early goal helped Blues on their way to an important 4-0 win at Ebbsfleet United on Monday.

And Husin believes the big win has been a timely boost for the Shrimpers.

"Monday was really enjoyable and I think we needed that in terms of scoring goals," said Husin.

"We played really well and it was a good win which we needed to keep the play-off hopes alive."

The Shrimpers are now one place and two points below the play-offs with just two games to go - the first of which comes against a Wealdstone side fighting to stay up this weekend.

"There's something on the line for both teams this weekend so it will be a tough game," said Husin.

"They're fighting for their lives and we're fighting to get in the play-offs so it will be a really difficult game.

"We're at home though and the supporters have been amazing this season.

"The atmosphere definitely helps us and hopefully they can push us over the line on Saturday."

Blues head to seventh placed Gateshead on the final game of the season next weekend.

And Husin believes Blues have done well to work their way into contention for a place in the top seven.

"We've put ourselves in a great position considering everything that's happened this season and hopefully we can take it to the last game of the season now" said Husin.

"We have to focus on ourselves and approach it like we do in every game, trying to win

"We can't control what anyone else does but we have plenty of belief and it was always our aim to be fighting for the play-offs.

"We are where we want to be but we want to finish it off now."
