SETTLING in off the pitch has helped Andrew Dallas shine on it for Southend United.
The Scottish striker has scored three goals in three games since moving into his own place in the area.
And Dallas believes the importance of feeling settled in your surroundings should be understated.
“Funnily enough, I moved in on the Thursday and scored on the Saturday,” said Dallas.
“I’ve scored since as well but in terms of the routine and having somewhere to call home it helps massively.
“I’ve found that with other clubs previously and off the pitch is so important as well as on it.”
Dallas’ latest effort helped the Shrimpers see off Halifax Town 3-0 at Roots Hall on Saturday.
And the forward is also enjoying his interactions with Blues’ fans.
“I love it when fans come up and say well played or say hello when you’re out for a coffee or a walk,” said Dallas.
“Some boys might think it’s annoying but I love it.
“I love how invested the fans are in the club and how passionate they are too.
“It adds to the experience I thought it would be.”
Dallas will be back in action when the fourth placed Shrimpers host Boston United this weekend. And Dallas cannot wait to line up at Roots Hall once again.
“Any game at home I’m always looking forward to with the fans behind us and how well we’ve been playing too,” said Dallas.
“I don’t know too much about Boston but we’ll be prepared for them nearer the game.
“The main thing for us is to focus on ourselves because when we hit our levels we’re one of the best teams in the league and it doesn’t matter who we’re playing against, especially at home.”
Blues will again be pushing to pick up more points.
And Dallas is certain more chances will be coming his way.
"I wasn't too worried about getting the ball in the back of the net because I knew I was going to get chances," said Dallas.
"I could take confidence from knowing I would get chances and I was happy to put one away at the weekend.
"But obviously I'm always striving for more and we want that as a team as well."
