And former Blues boss Tilson - who first recommended Andeng Ndi to club - is pleased to see the goalkeeper playing regularly having first been impressed by him during their time together at South Essex College in Southend
"Collin has done ever so well and we're proud to see him playing so many games for Southend," said Tilson.
"He was doing well for us so I rang Ricky Duncan who was at Southend at the time and just asked him to have a look at him to see what he thought.
"That's the only small part I played and it's purely down to Collin that he's gone on, got a contract and is now close to his 100th game.
"He's the one who deserves the praise and I'm pleased for him because he's a great lad with a great personality."
Andeng Ndi has started every league game for the Shrimpers this season.
And Tilson is looking forward to seeing his former student reach three figures for Blues.
"I'm at the game on Saturday and I hope Collin can get another clean sheet to help Southend win," said Tilson.
"He's come a long way in a short space of time and he's worked hard to get himself these opportunities.
"He's a confident lad who has always believed in his ability and he's at the age where he will keep on getting better too."
Andeng Ndi, 22, made his Shrimpers debut against Dorking Wanderers in the FA Trophy in December 2021 when his penalty save helped Kevin Maher's side secure a 2-1 victory at Roots Hall.
