SOUTHEND United’s Jean-Francois Christophe is aiming to show Yeovil Town exactly what they missed out on this weekend.

The Frenchman, who has now extended his loan spell from Portsmouth for a second month, was with the Glovers for four weeks last season.

And the 21-year-old midfielder is hoping to enjoy a successful return when the Shrimpers head to Huish Park on Saturday.

“It was good at Yeovil and I enjoyed it there but I want them to regret letting me go,” said Christophe speaking through an interpreter – Blues youth team midfielder Medi Abalimba.

“It will be a good occasion going back there and one I am looking forward to as well.”

Christophe, who made five appearances while with Yeovil, will also be looking to lengthen Southend’s winning run of results.

Steve Tilson’s side have secured three successive victories to move up to eighth in the League One table and Christophe is delighted to be staying with the Shrimpers for longer.

“I’m enjoying it here and I’m happy that the loan is lasting longer now,” said Christophe whose original one month deal was due to expire after Saturday’s game.

“It’s good that the coach has given me the chance to stay and a chance to play in his team too.

“It’s great and I like it here.

“I’ve settled in fine and at the moment I’m living with Francis Laurent who has a place down here so that’s helped me too.

“It’s nice and relaxing and we’re doing well now too which is even better.”

Christophe has played a key part in helping the Shrimpers turn things round and has forged a solid partnership with another loanee, Lee Sawyer, in the centre of the park.

They are again expected to team up against Yeovil and Christophe believes the duo compliment each other well in the midfield.

“We’re good together,” he said.

“Lee’s an attacking player and I’m more defensive so there’s a good balance between us.

“I sit back and let Lee get forward and I would like to think that it’s been working well so far and we want that to carry on.”
