WESTCLIFF and Hadleigh are involved in a tremendous battle of supremacy for honours in the Southend Indoor Cricket League Premier Division.
In their latest match, Westcliff collected 20 points for their 81-run win over Rayleigh to move a point clear of Hadleigh at the top.
David Colwill hit an unbeaten 37 for Westcliff and this plus Jon Pratt’s 30 not out took them to 124-2.
Rayleigh were all out for 43 in reply with Aqeei Rafique taking 3-26 and Peter Shaw 2-13. Rayleigh got just two points.
In the other Premier match, Basildon & Pitsea collected 19 points and stand third after an eight-run win over bottom club Southend Trinity, who picked up nine.
Basildon made 114-3 with Jonathan Bonnett making 27 not out. Phil Tooke and Scott Noble were on 25 apiece.
Tooke then took 4-20 in Trinity’s 108-5 reply.
