IN very cold and heavy conditions Belfairs Golf Club staged their February medals at the weekend.

On Friday, Tony Ball was pick of the bunch as his excellent net 66 off 20 handicap just edged evergreen Harry Burke (14) who was very steady with his 67.

High handicapper Ron Buck (28) had a good day with a 70, but was just edged on countback by an equally good performance from Jim Dennis (19), who grabbed third spot.

There was a real tussle on Saturday as four players, Chris Shawyer (18), Graeme Dale (15), Harry Burke (14) and Ray Beadell (16), all posted 67s.

Shawyer’s better back nine rewarded him with the medal while Dale got second place on the same basis over Friday’s runner up Burke.

David Gribbon (11) can do little wrong at the moment as his game is very long and straight allied to a sound short game.

Already in the winter singles quarter-final and winter doubles semi-finals, he collected another monthly medal as his net 65 won Sunday’s prize.

Graeme Dale found his form at the weekend as the 15-handicapper was runner up for the second day in succession with a satisfying 66.

Andrew Meddle (7) was going well after the front nine, but a lost ball on the back nine saw him slip to third place with a fine 67.
