SPECIALIST goalkeeping coaches Paul Griffin and Dean Neil will be holding two of their popular Safehands courses for youngsters during the half-term holidays.

They are at Basildon’s Markhams Chase Sports Centre on February 16 and East Thurrock United’s Rookery Hill ground on February 20.

Times for both days are 9.30am-2.30pm at a cost of £18.50 each day. But keepers can be booked in for both days for £31.50 The duo are enjoying huge success with their goalkeeper tuition sessions and Neil said: “We have 72 goalkeepers on our books, which include several academy boys, youth internationals, non-league, woman pros and grass roots goalkeepers.

“We have a good mixture of ages, ability and sexes.

“On the day we have a sports photographer taking action shots. We also have ex-Southend United winger James Lawson helping out on shooting drills and AFC Wimbledon goalkeeper James Pullen giving a helping hand.

“He’s showing great support and advice to the younger goalkeepers. “I can’t express how much we’re enjoying the scheme. We have quickly become mentors to the keepers who all phone us up when they have played well or badly.

“We have consultations with the pupils after training about their previous games.”

For those who cannot make the half-term sessions, the duo do weekly courses as well.
