DAVID Lloyd moved up into second place in Leigh & Westcliff LTA’s Mixed Division Five.

The Snakes Lane club hosted Kent Elms IV in the Eastwood derby and overtook their visitors in the standings thanks to a 4-1 win.

Will Todd and Keiko Petchey got the ball rolling by beating Gary Nicholls and Dawn Collins 6-1 6-1.

Kent Elms, based in Aviation Way, fought back with Craig Giles and Hanah Stevens taking the first set in the second rubber 6-4.

But Tony Argent and Jackey Henesey bounced back to take the remaining sets 6-3 6-4.

Rayleigh continued their march towards promotion in Ladies’ Division Three with a 4-0 win over bottom club Leigh III.

Jan Cooper and Lynn Piper defeated Deborah Grant and Sonia Clover 6-2 6-3, before Cathy Chambers and Dot Monte beat Sheila Kerr and Debbie Goldhawk 6-1 6-3.

Wickford overtook Hadleigh Park III in Men’s Division Six after a 4-0 away win.

Roger Perham and Dave Goodman set Wickford on course with a 6-3 6-3 win over Gary Faux and Gareth Davies.

Stuart Clark and John Kirk wrapped up the win by beating Richard Howard and Anthony Wood 6-3 6-2.
