FROM the internet to back of the net — that’s Sceptre Elite who continue to go from strength to strength.
The club were formed in March 2008 by Robert Hutchings-Spiller and Karl Wright after the idea was raised from an unofficial online messageboard at www.sundayleagueforum.co.uk.
On there teams from the Sceptre League decided to form a side to also play on Saturdays and they have gone on to secure great success.
Sceptre Elite have won Division Five of the Southend Borough Combination League and have triumphed in all 22 of their matches, scoring 112 goals and conceding just 18.
They also won the Cater Cup beating Little Theatre Club seconds 4-1 in the final, got to the semi finals of the Southend Charity Cup Section E and the third round of the Essex Junior Trophy.
Elite, who play at Bournes Green Park in Southend, are sponsored by the Exchange Public House in Southchurch Road, Southchurch.
James Singleton ended the campaign as the club’s top goalscorer having hit the back of the net 38 times. He is also the whole borough league top scorer.
A second team will now be starting next season and Elite are looking for good players to sign up.
