THE Brand boys have been proving that football genes really do run in the family.
Austin, 12, and Jared, 15, from Thorpe Bay, have both been on the glory trail this season, watched by proud father Paul, who played for Charlton Athletic.
Striker Austin got on the scoresheet in the early rounds of a tournament at Eastwoodbury Lane, Eastwood, as his Leigh Ramblers U12 side went all the way to the final, winning 2-0 and picking up a cup. Prolific older sibling Jared plays in midfield for the team coached by his Spurs-loving dad Kingsdown Rangers U15A.
Jared ended up top of the scoring charts, with 18 goals in 16 matches, as his team lifted the Southend and District Junior Sunday Football League title, pipping Canvey Island to the silverware with a 4-2 win over Trinity on the last game of the season.
Kingsdown are looking for good quality players for next season's under-16 Premier Division team. Call 07770 415333.
