PAM Gray and Maureen Parkin continued their excellent form for Basildon Ladies when they played in the third round of the Daily Mail Foursomes at home to Boyce Hill. The pair played at the top of their form and finished the match with a decisive 4 and 2 win.
It was a disappointing result for the bronze team when they played against West Essex away. The team put up a great fight, but finished 4-3 down.
There was also a close match in the White Webbs when the team of Hannah and Jackie Worthington, Shirley Clayton, Sue Cable and Judy Long played Cobtree Manor away.
Conditions were far from perfect as the hot weather had brought out hordes of players resulting in the match being delayed and played behind a slow-moving society. The final result was a 3-2 loss for Basildon.
In the English Ladies’ Champion-ship qualifying competition, honours went to Julia Castle on net 72 for the bronze division and Sue Cable on net 77 for the silver set-up.
