SOUTHEND Golf Club hosted the Kindred Clubs Past Captains’ Golf Society spring meeting.
The five local clubs, made up of the hosts, neighbours Belfairs, Thorpe Hall, Rochford and Boyce Hill played for the Millennium Trophy, with each team’s best four scores counting towards the aggregate total.
Southend secured victory with 146 points, their team comprising Brian Hull (40 pts), Darren Lee (37), Michael Edmunds (36) and Cyril Elliott (33).
They just pipped Boyce Hill into second place with 144, their team being society’s secretary Robbie Hubbard (43), Barrie Walters and Ken Cooper (34 apiece) and Lennie Jacobs (33).
Hubbard’s individual score won him the Captain’s Trophy.
