THERE is good and bad news on the team front for Billericay Town.

On the debit side, striker Joe Flack has decided to quit the New Lodge club and looks set to follow Matt Game and Lynvall Duncan to Blue Square South Braintree Town, where ex-Town boss Jason Broom is assistant manager to Robbie Garvey.

But, on the plus side, left-back Ashley Dumas will be staying at Blunts Wall Road.

New manager Brian Statham said: “We’ve been in discussion with Joe for several weeks and we are clearly disappointed that he is going.

“The chairman (Steve Kent) and I have been working very hard to convince him to stay.

“We offered him the best deal we could, but ultimately Joe has decided that a move is best for him.”

Since Flack is under 24, Billericay will be due financial compensation from whichever team he signs for.

But Statham was obviously delighted with Dumas’s decision to stay and said: “Ashley won the players’ and supporters’ player of the season awards, so he’s obviously got a big future ahead of him.

“He plays in the same position I did, so hopefully I can help him along in his career.”
