Division One: Leigh on Sea suffered a 127-run defeat away to South Woodford. The visitors suffered a bad start when opening batsmen Michael Browne (49) and Harry Neicho (67) found conditions to their liking.

But Richard Browne (11) and Krishan Vadher (34) were the only other batsmen to prosper as South Woodford made 200-8 declared from 51.5 overs, with Matthew Wallace taking 4-59 and Daniel Power 4-50.

Leigh’ s reply got off to a bad start with Aaron Kerner (11) the only player to reach double figures until Power (20) came in at nine to help the reply reach 73 all out.

Wickford drew at home Colchester & East Essex after putting their visitors in to bat. Colchester declared on 249-2 after 47.5 overs after openers Simon Gilhooly (44) and Dhruva Bhaskar (122no) got them off to a great start.

Sam Stockwell went for a duck but Lorrie Austin (42) partnered Bhaskar to the declaration as Ian Brandle and Philip Buckingham took the wickets.

Ian Butler (39) and Saqib Malik (53) made early inroads, before Anthony McKenna (11), Lee Stace (68) and Daniel Rouse (14) reduced it further. But the wheels fell off as the tail added only 11 runs as Wickford finished on 214-8.

Division Two: Old Southendian & Southchurch won by three wickets away to Westcliff on Sea. The Old Boys put their hosts in to bat and must have feared the worst when Robert Curtis hit an unbeaten 150.

Daniel Powell (25) and Steve Watts (25) kept Curtis company before Westcliff declared on 236-4 after 49 overs, with Ben Dowse (2-55), Robert Dodson and Dave Evans taking the wickets.

Mark Hope (27), James Lock (33), Kamal Prabhakar (39) and G Bray (35) contributed valuable runs before Dowse added 53 to held the Old Boys to 238-7 off 41.1 overs in reply.

Billericay drew at home to Basildon & Pitsea. Basildon were put in to bat and saw Luke Parkinson top-score with 78 as they posted 221-6 declared off 52 overs.

Michael Smith led the run chase with 91 as Billericay replied with 217-6 off 44 overs.

There was a draw for Benfleet too as they were held to a stalemate at Harold Wood Park. Harold Wood saw opener Nadeem Sohail hit 81 and Jamie Goldstein 46 as they posted 235-8 declared off 52 overs.

Chris Coldicott (3-44) and Andy White (2-78) fared best with the ball before Benfleet replied with 180-8 off 46 overs. Tony Russ (45), Matthew Wright (33) and Chris Webb (32) anchored the reply, while Waqas Shafique took 4-49.

Horndon on the Hill were held to a draw at home to Walthamstow. Horndon posted 227 all out from 50.5 overs, with David Goldstone (62), Chris Stone (46) and Tony Hurrell (36) leading the way and J Thompson taking 6-79.

Walthamstow saw Nigel Bloch (32) and Matt Hawkins (30) lead the run chase, which reached 150-8 off 43 overs as Luke Clements claimed 4-12 and Eddie Powell 2-23.

Hadleigh & Thundersley’s trip to Rolls Sportsground ended in a 36-run defeat to West Essex.

West Essex were put in to bat and made 216-9 off 52 overs largely thanks to Bilal Sajjad (55), Teepo Afzal (48) and James Butler (41).

Paul Baker took 3-43 and David Slaughter (2-46) before Baker top-scored for Hadleigh with 76.

Keith Klein (29) and Sam Rowe (23) both got in the 20s as the visitors reached 180 all out off 43.5 overs, with Afzal taking 4-29 and Usman Aslam 3-42.

Division Three: Stanford le Hope travelled to Southchurch Park and defeated hosts Southend on Sea by seven wickets. Southend posted 136 all out off 49.4 overs as Roger Walcott (19), Kevin Salt (16) and Steve Laflin (13) led the way.

Extras (35) contributed most to the Southend innings as Daryl Woodford claimed 4-39 and Ian Sanderson 3-11.

Luke Dennis (25) hit some early runs but Andrew Robinson (47no) and Joshua Reid (39no) knocked off the runs to post a winning 138-3 off 26.1 overs. Patrick Kearney took 2-39 and Thomas Kearney 1-24.

Orsett triumphed by 129 runs in their home Thurrock derby with Belhus at School Lane.

Lewis Lockyer (26) and Nathan Smith (0) opened for Orsett but Belhus hopes were dealt a severe blow when Stuart Quilter (115no) and Nick Henry (84) got into their stride.

Lewis Smith (28no) joined Quilter as Orsett declared on 266-3 off 49 overs with Bradley Sheridan, John Forrest and Owen Jefferies taking a wicket each.

Belhus saw Stuart Morris (36) and Chris Baker (35) reduce the arrears but only two other batsmen reached double figures before the visitors were bowled out for 137 off 39.3 overs as Jonathan Gordon (5-43), Glen Harris (3-35) and Stuart Quilter (2-6) did the business.
