WORCESTERSHIRE reached 176-4 on the first day of their friendly with Essex at Chelmsford today.
David Masters, Chris Wright, Ryan ten Doeschate and Maurice Chambers took a wicket each as Moeen Ali posted 68 not out and Ben Smith an unbeaten 40.
Play was delayed by rain until 2pm and Essex will be hoping for better luck for the second day tomorrow.
