ESSEX Pirates are hoping for a case of third time lucky when they head to Worcester Wolves tomorrow.

The Southend based side have been narrowly edged out by Wolves in the previous two meetings between the sides.

But Pirates’ head coach Tim Lewis is chasing a different outcome this time around.

“We’ve had two frustrating games against them before but feel we can beat them this time,” said Lewis.

“We lost by seven points in October and then five in February when the game got taken away from us at the end.

“We want to come out on top this time because we certainly feel we can beat them and we go into the game in good form.”

Pirates have won three of their last four games, including two successive victories.

And Wolves coach Paul James knows his team will be in for a tough test.

“Essex Pirates have been playing really well over the last few weeks, so their confidence will be high,” said James.

“The last time we played them, both teams matched up well but we were able to come out with a hard fought win.

“I'm sure it will be the same this time around.”

Pirates are also back in action on Monday as they travel to table-topping Sheffield Sharks.

But that is another clash Lewis and his side are looking forward to.

“Sheffield are a strong side but we have nothing to lose against them and it will be a very good test,” said Lewis.

“We lost 101-77 last time we went there in January and hopefully we will be able to show how much we have improved since then.

“'Our aim is to finish strong and get a few more wins under our belt.

“If we could reach double figures in wins in our first year that would be fantastic and hopefully we can get nearer to that target this weekend.”

Pirates have no new injury concerns and point guard Haggai Hundert will again play wearing a protective mask because of his broken nose.
