Famous face — event organiser Roy Plummer, Arsenal and England star Paul Merson and Athenauem owner Nigel Baylis
MEMBERS of the Athenaeum Club heard stories from one of soccer’s top personalities when ex-England and Arsenal star Paul Merson was guest of honour at their latest sportsman’s dinner.
The night was a big success with Merson, now a popular member of Jeff Stelling’s Soccer Saturday crew at SkySports, proving a popular diner at the club in Aviation Way, Southend.
All profits from the very enjoyable evening are to be split between good causes. Benefitting will be the Bobby Moore Bowel Cancer Research Fund, Southend Rugby Club’s Youth Academy.
